Rendering is a process that converts waste meat products from butcher shops and supermarkets into stable, value-added materials like soaps, paints & varnishes, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, plastics, bio-fuels and lubricants. The rendering process simultaneously dries the material and separates the fat from the bone and protein.
This process yields finished products that are used in the manufacture of many other products; yellow grease, choice white grease, tallow and protein meal. Western Mass Rendering Co. recycles over 40 million pounds of fats, oils and proteins annually.
